When travel plans go wrong it can be difficult to find a decent place to stay so I was delighted to discover I’d hit the jackpot in Dover last Friday! Not only was the room very reasonably priced for a late (single occupancy) booking but the room was gorgeously furnished, spotlessly clean and very comfortable! My arrival after 22:00 was not a problem and the landlady kept in touch by text and email to ensure I was welcomed in person and to minimise disturbance to her other guests. There is no lift to the attic room so I was offered another on a lower floor, but I’m glad I didn’t change as it was worth the climb. The ensuite is ‘bijou’ but well stocked. Breakfast was lovely too and served fresh even though I was over 40 minutes late down (comfy bed!). Finally my hostess saved the day with a pliers to fix the zip in my coat so I was able to brave the snow and continue my journey well fed and refreshed.‘ Aisling Judge 18 Mar2018
